How can we prepare young students for a future shaped by AI? This course offers teachers practical tools to explain basic AI concepts—such as machine learning, prompts, tokens, and AI hallucinations—in age-appropriate ways.

Participants will explore how to create engaging lessons that integrate AI literacy into different subjects, while also fostering ethical reflection and digital responsibility. Key topics will include how AI works, its potential benefits and risks, and how to encourage a critical approach to AI-generated content.

No previous technical background is required. By the end of the course, educators will feel confident designing interactive lessons that spark curiosity, promote ethical thinking, and help young students make sense of the digital world they are growing up in.

Primary objectives

  • Understand the basics of Artificial Intelligence, including machine learning and generative models.
  • Learn to explain concepts such as prompts, tokens, and AI hallucinations in simple, accessible language.
  • Develop lesson plans that introduce AI through interactive and age-appropriate activities.

Secondary objectives

  • Explore how to integrate AI literacy into the broader school curriculum.
  • Promote ethical awareness and responsible AI use in the classroom.
  • Encourage students to question and verify AI-generated content to build critical thinking.

Beyond gaining expertise, you’ll enjoy rich networking opportunities with peers from across Europe. Share experiences, challenges, and successes during the course and beyond. Our Catalan Cultural Program invites you to experience local heritage and identity in an immersive, authentic way.

Our courses are highly practical and participatory. We believe that meaningful professional development happens when educators are actively involved, reflect on real cases, and collaborate with peers.

Structure and Schedule

Each course includes 25 hours of training distributed as follows:

– 20 hours of face-to-face sessions, from Monday to Friday from 3.30 PM to 7.30PM, in real education settings.

– 5 hours of independent learning, completed from home before, during, or after the course. These hours are dedicated to reflection tasks, readings, or optional challenges to deepen the learning experience.

Assessment

– There is no final exam.

– We apply continuous, formative assessment, based on daily participation in tasks and activities.

– Trainers provide feedback throughout the course to ensure everyone progresses meaningfully.

Learning Platform

All materials, resources, and complementary activities will be available through our virtual learning platform (Moodle). Participants will have access to all content, which will remain open for consultation and download.

All course materials, tasks, and resources will be made available through our virtual learning platform (Moodle), which will serve as the central hub for your learning journey.

Participants will engage with a variety of interactive and practical tools, including:

  • Glossaries of key AI terms (e.g., prompts, tokens, hallucinations) to help simplify complex concepts and support student understanding.
  • AI simulations and interactive presentations designed to explore core ideas such as machine learning, deep learning, and generative AI.
  • Hands-on activities using tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Gemini to model how these platforms can support learning in the classroom.
  • Recommended guidelines and resources to promote responsible and ethical use of AI among young learners.
  • Curated articles, videos, and case examples to deepen understanding and encourage classroom experimentation.

These resources will ensure that the learning experience remains accessible, engaging, and directly applicable to today’s educational needs.
