Teaching Sustainability: Circular Economy for a Greener Future

Primary objectives:

• Understand the fundamentals of the circular economy and its critical role today.
• Analyze the limitations of the linear economy and explore sustainable alternatives.
• Identify key principles such as resource efficiency, recycling, reuse, and sustainable design.

Secondary objectives:

• Explore business models that support circular economic principles.
• Equip educators with knowledge and tools to integrate circular economy concepts into teaching.
• Develop practical strategies for applying circular economy ideas across educational subjects.

Our courses are highly practical and participatory. We believe that meaningful professional development happens when educators are actively involved, reflect on real cases, and collaborate with peers.

Structure and Schedule

Each course includes 25 hours of training distributed as follows:

– 20 hours of face-to-face sessions, from Monday to Friday from 3.30 PM to 7.30PM, in real education settings.

– 5 hours of independent learning, completed from home before, during, or after the course. These hours are dedicated to reflection tasks, readings, or optional challenges to deepen the learning experience.

Assessment

– There is no final exam.

– We apply continuous, formative assessment, based on daily participation in tasks and activities.

– Trainers provide feedback throughout the course to ensure everyone progresses meaningfully.

Learning Platform

All materials, resources, and complementary activities will be available through our virtual learning platform (Moodle). Participants will have access to all content, which will remain open for consultation and download.

Participants will engage with a variety of interactive and practical tools, including:

• Videos, case studies, and interactive presentations to support understanding and application

• Reports from the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, online circular economy simulation tools, and platforms like Circular Classroom

• Digital tools such as Kahoot quizzes and collaborative whiteboards for collaborative brainstorming

• Additional readings and real-world examples to deepen practical knowledge and inspire teaching

These resources ensure a dynamic and relevant learning experience connected to real sustainability challenges and opportunities.
